Wake up Call!

Tis the beginning of Fasnacht week in our little area of southern Germany/northern Switzerland. Carnival celebrations vary from village to village and I was fortunate enough to be invited to a very special tradition: the official town wake-up call! The plan? Get out of bed at 4:00 am, suit up and head out to meet with the marching band by 4:45. This wasn't just your average group of performers; these musicians really kicked ass!!

Of course its the middle of winter and freezing cold, so heavy drinking also ensues. Baileys, beers and schnapps is the breakfast of these champions.

  

We also got to bail the kids out of school, which is always awesome.
